Global Home at DokFest München
Munich in spring is a pleasure anyways. And then a cinema with old and new friends in the audience – herrlich.
Danke DokFest München für die schöne Vorführung!

Breaking news of gorgeous GLOBAL HOME protagonist Maria Clara Lagoeiro Süssekind! Her life also inspired Gloria Perez, one of the most important brasilian telenovela writers. Based on Clara’s story she developed a character for a famous TV series “Salve Jorge” that is actually broadcasted in Brasil.
See, what awesome people you can find on couchsurfing …
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YJXe3YM-XhI
And the ultimately BEST THING for the screening tonight: One of the fantastic protagonists is going to be in the audience and around for the Q & A! Casey Fenton, the initial programmer and co-founder of couchsurfing.org will be at “The Roxy”, plus a terrific bunch of CouchSurfers from the Basecamp, all presented by lovely Media Projects Wondergirl Heather O’Brien… aah! I wish I could be there!
Old cinemas keep on coming back in my life! Last time GLOBAL HOME was screened in “Lichtburg” a 60 years old beauty, tonight “The Roxie” will host the next screening. The Roxie is the oldest continuously running cinema in the United States and has been at its location in San Francisco’s Mission District since it opened in 1909!!! They have a kickstarter campaign going that should be checked out by cinema lovers …

Danube walk with Mamatal Belmondo, cake and cream in the pot, with Tobias Schrade in his Galery, and with all my cousins jumping in front of the Münster. And the day of departure it happened that Ulm had transformed into a magic winter wonderland over night…

Another moment of great hospitality on the way of GLOBAL HOME!
Thank you so much Tobias Schrade and Martina Strilic for hosting this fantastic party in your Galerie Tobias Schrade
And it’s a fantastic Premiere with a red carpet, a surreal robot, champagne, more people than seats (250!) very old friends and brand new ones in the audience, the great score composer Jürgen Grözinger with us aaaaand the most amazing thing: MAMATAL AG DAHMANE in the house! My wonderful host and protagonist from Mali is coming from Paris. A very special gift for all of us!
Thank you Sebastian Schmidt, Rainer Zimmermann and Roland Sailer from Dietrich Kinos for this cooperation and the great cinema!
GLOBAL HOME goes Ulm!
I had to travel five countries on four continents to overenjoy the German Premiere in ULM! Ulm has been home for me for some years, and it feels fabolous and a bit weird that this is happening. Come on in, next friday!

And the Premiere had everything you can ask for: Glamorous Girls, a packed cinema, great screening quality (DCP we love it) a lively Q & A, great responses of the audience, and a dinner with friends afterwards.
GLOBAL HOME was screened with 15 METROS, a brilliant short doc, shot in Haiti after the earthquake, by mexican filmmaker Alan Romero Zavala.
And then the party… As fate would have it there was the “Bar 25″ party this night. But when applying some of my Bar 25 habits I got kicked out of the club! How cool is that! Amanda argued half an hour and boxed me in again. Thank you, Super-Amanda!
I dived into promoting my film as never before. I spamed however London related friends, friends of friends, took over the press list of the festival, created events on Facebook and Couchsurfing, crafted all sorts of energetic posts, hired a press agent, spread GLOBAL HOME postcards all over the Apollo cinema and the Filmmakers Lounge, and all peeps I met I invited personally, thank you Pigalle for introducing me to your fabulous friends… !
Now I let it go, and will see if people show up, in a city where 1001 things are going on on a Friday at 20:15 pm. Great time, huh?
And YES: If you are a journalist and want to write about GLOBAL HOME, mails by journalists make me happy, please get in touch- mail@evastotz.com!

Yesterday I strolled around in Soho. A beautiful painting in a gallery window caught my attention. There was a man sitting in front of it, his backpack next to him, I took him as a traveller. We started to chat and Brian introduced himself as a homeless person, “homeless out of my own choice.” I was truely surprised, he didn’t look at all like all these countless people you can see here lying in front of supermarkets. “You don’t need to be dirty when you are homeless. This is my city, I know how to live in the streets.”His bright presence and reflected perspective on the society made me do a spontanious street interview. A real Londoner, who wants to live “like we where ment to live”. After he found God he did a pilgrimage to Jerusalem, as he wanted to do one prayer there. It took three attempts, finally after 4 months on the road where he only spent 90 Pounds, he arrived and did his prayer in Jerusalem. After this he stayed only one more day, then jumped on the plane and flew back in 5 hours to London. So thankful for this encounter. Will edit the interview a bit and post it soon.
The real one!
Sunday Brunch, thank you Amanda!

In my favorite cinema in Berlin, fsk am Oranienplatz, 100 people gather together.
This colourful mulit-national crowd is here to see what? Yep, GLOBAL HOME – here’s the first welcome in the friends world.
great screening, lot of laughter, and presentation of the lovely team afterwards.
Cling glasses with all Princes and Princesses in in Prinzessinnengarten, and tapdancing Marije and drumming Jürgen give the thing the peak!
Thanks to all of you, GLOBAL HOME is where we are.

Howdy, let’s go Texas!
yesterday i was skyping with Mamatal, my host and protagonist in Mali.
I’m actually very worried about his family and the people I know there – some months ago a brutal fight between the tuareg and the government started and already 400.000 tuareg had to flee.
Mamatal is safe in France and involved with an organisation called ARVRA. Here an article from him with some bitter facts. Every support is needed!

here I made my first couchsurfing experience, and thanks to OKAN, my marvellous host, i inflamed with passion for the project. it was here, where the idea for this film came to life, and of course here it comes to an end – ha, nice one!

Israel and Palestine is the place for all kind of segregation studies.

We are on Awad’s land. Alice and the volunteers help with tree planting and water catchment construction. As the law stand, the palestinians have better chances to claim their property if the soil is cultivated. Due to settlement construction nearby, Awad’s land gets more and more confiscated. In 2007, Israeli Occupation Forces destroyed an apricot and date orchard in his family garden.
